Canvas Valise: owned by Pvt. Allen Day, 4th S.C. Cavalry. Though not readily seen, this is a "flat" bottom valise similar to artillery patterns. It is of canvas construction with leather ends and is very well made. The 4th S.C. cavalry is documented as having been issued valises in 1863 but we cannot be certain if this was one of those.
