
Cavalryman with great coat (Antietam area?): Note the halter bridle, blanket roll and what appears to be a McClellan saddle with covered wood stirrups. The bit looks like it could be a "troopers bit" pattern. Comments: Recently uncovered, when this photo was found it accompanied another that is believed to have come been of Sharpsburg, Md. or from the Antietam area. Confederate? Though un-identified, his natty attire, cowboys hat and confident posture suggests to me the air of a capable horseman.
