Lt. Nathan Roberts: Lt. Nathan Roberts sits astride a British 1850's Hussar's pattern saddle complete with valise, crupper, hussar's stirrups and what may possibly be an English 1860 pattern halter bridle. The saddle cloth is also likely a British import as many were imported and sold to C.S. officers as part of their "set" of English equipment. Roberts was later killed in the fighting around Atlanta. Comment: Wouldn't it be great if just ONE reenacting officer was equipped and looked like this? And this skinny? For more information on these type equipments order the book "Confederate Saddles and Horse Equipment" By Ken R. Knopp (see home page).
